Sweet Summertime!

IMG_0378

My sister Shannon and her daughter Elizabeth came to visit us!  I didn’t get many pictures, but this one was funny.  All of the kids had been playing in the fountains at a shopping center by our house and stopped to watch the show.  Pat’s stealing some of Elizabeth’s granola bar right out of her hand!  Stinker!

We road-tripped it up to Independence, KS for a family reunion a few weeks ago.  They had an awesome park with a train (see Luke, above) and carousel.  The rides were a whole quarter!  The boys had a great time with their second cousins.

My cousin Jenny’s daughter Jamie shared a seat with me, and my cousin Brandi is hugging her son Tristan.  Sweet kids!

My cousin Christine’s daughter Gabby.  She looks so much like her mom!

Grandma getting some love from her youngest grandbaby (for a few more months anyway!)  We had a great time seeing everyone.  We even spent the night with my Uncle Marvin and Aunt Debbie.  They built a new home in Tulsa complete with a ‘safe room’ for tornadoes.  Pretty cool.

In other family news, Andrew got glasses!  This is only his back-up pair, but he’s doing so well with them already!  We’re pretty sure he can see so much better that he doesn’t mind the hassle of wearing them.

Ahhh, the sweet taste of summer.  Again, at the fountains, but this time it’s with their cub scout pack.  Luke loved the cotton candy sno-cone.  Matches his shirt!

Andrew and Patrick cooling off.  It was a crazy hot day, but the parents kept cool on a patio with misters (and some beverages) while the kids ran around.  I love summer!

Happy Anniversary to Us

Sometimes, a mama’s just gotta brag.  This is one of those times.

Perhaps Scott mentioned our anniversary coming up.  Perhaps we told them we were going to get them a babysitter for our celebration.  I’m sure it was discussed.  But, falling into that ‘wow, they pick up on more than we give them credit for’ category, would be what we woke up to this morning:

In case you can’t see it, it says, and I quote: “Ha99y Pth Anavrzary!” spelled out in two sets of Uno cards.  Oh, and a homemade ‘Texas’ flag that Patrick is holding.  (??)

The boys made us breakfast all by themselves!  Buttered toast, iced oatmeal cookies, and Rice Krispies with the milk already poured.  (Too bad it had been poured about half an hour before we got up!)  Mine even has chocolate milk in it!  My favorite!  We’re unsure the role the bottle of Fantastik played in the making of the breakfast…

But seriously, folks!  These sweet little boys not only remembered our special day, they remembered that it was our 9th!  Making breakfast?  Who would have thought of that?  Marriage is a gift in and of itself, but children are considered the ‘supreme gift of marriage’  So, yeah, Scott didn’t need to get me anything for our anniversary.  Our precious kids are gift enough!  Happy Anniversary to us!

Tiger Fun Day

Patrick and Luke can not wait to be Tiger Cubs!  They got a preview of their Boy Scout careers today at Tiger Fun Day.  It was a one afternoon taste of the Cub Scout’s Twilight Camp that will be starting on Monday.

They had a fun water relay

All in all, a great day!  Bring on Scouting!
