Family visit

This took me a long time to post, but here are some photos from Scott's family visit a few weeks ago. Sorry for being a slacker!
.
Patrick, Chris, Grammie, Luke, Joe, Granddad, and Dave before they left.
.
Sorry to be gross, but I found this picture among all of the ones we took that morning. Nice, boys. Can Patrick get in on the nose action, too? How come no one picks their nose until the cameras are on?
.
Check out my wet feet, Granddad!
.
Is Grammie's lap big enough?

AMEN!

Just a few stories for you about some of the funny stuff our kids do and say:

The other day we were outside playing close to dinner time. Scott announced that he was so hungry he could eat a horse. When we called Joe in to dinner, he said he didn’t want to go. “I don’t like horse!” he protested.

Joe and mommy played hide and seek yesterday. He would hide in the closet and count to ten. It usually ended up with a count to five or six before he got bored and came to look for me. The whole time he had a running dialogue with no one in particular, “Where is my mommy? She could be somewhere. Is she over here? No… Is she behind the chair? No…” He always checks my last hiding place first.

Patrick and Luke can now climb up on the couch all by themselves. Once they get there, they sit with their backs on the cushions like big people. They sit up so straight and beam with pride.

They also can protest with words now. If someone steals a toy or gives a shove, the other one might respond with a loud, “HEY!” or “no” or “mine!” The “hey” is the funniest coming out of such little mouths. It’s Joe’s protest of choice. Since we use the “1,2,3” method with Joe to get him to do something we ask, the twins will holler, “TWO!” as soon as I say, “one.” We don’t often get to three, so they don’t quite know it yet.

Scott went in to check on Joseph about a half hour after he went to bed one night. As he opened the door, he discovered Joe out of bed and playing with some toys in the corner of his room. Realizing that he had been caught, he quickly found an excuse: “You woke me up, Daddy!”

In another post-bedtime incident, Joe was caught sucking a binky he must have stashed in his room. He is not allowed to suck binkies anymore since he grew too tall for them, as the doctor told him at his 3-year check up. Instead of facing the consequences of his “sin sucks,” (as my sister calls them) Joe slowly moved his hand up to his mouth and tried to slyly remove the binky. Daddy wasn’t fooled, but he did laugh.

Prayers at bedtime are much more fun now that the twins have a growing vocabulary. When we announce “Prayer time!” they both come running (Joe hides in the closet…) and sit on the floor. When we start the sign of the cross, Patrick waves his arm in front of him furiously in imitation. At the end, one boy or another announces, “AMEN!”
